Earning Money from Home

492

Some people are simply built for the workplace; the professional environment, the fast-pace and the swanky office are exactly what they need to get them into working mode and help them to do their job well. We applaud those people, but many of us struggle with the long hours and are a little phased by the idea of commuting. For those of us who fall into the latter category, working from home might sound like a dream, but easier said than done- right? Sort of. Depending on how many hours you’re willing to work and how much you’re expecting to earn, there are some ways you can establish an income from the comfort of your sofa.

Freelancing

Although working remotely is becoming more common, most employers still want their workforce in the office for the majority of the time, so if you’re keen to work from home permanently freelancing may just be the way to go.

Freelancing is a possibility for a range of industries, from technical to creative, so whether your skills are in web development, copywriting, translation or video editing, you might be able to find a way to work from home. The difficulty here can be the initial set up of your business, as building a client base to provide a sustainable income can take a considerable amount of time. It’s also important to remember when freelancing that you’re responsible for legal documentation like tax returns, and it’s wise to set yourself up with a pension scheme since you don’t have an employer to do this for you!

Blogging

If you think this doesn’t really sound like a job, you’re not the only one. You might be surprised to hear that some people do earn their living through blogging; sharing interesting experiences or useful advice can attract impressive levels of attention, and high website traffic means blogs can provide a good platform for sponsored content. This doesn’t have to be a full time gig though, you can blog just for fun, and use the opportunity to top-up on cash as much or as little as you’d like.

Online Surveys

This is certainly not a way to earn an entire income, but paid surveys offer a convenient and flexible way to top-up with a little extra cash as and when it suits you. You don’t even need a laptop for this, most online surveys can be completed on a smart phone, so if you have time to kill whilst you’re waiting for dinner to cook, eating your breakfast or waiting for the bathroom to become available, filling out a few paid surveys here and there will earn you a little extra to justify a few small treats.

Whatever your skills and interest are, and however much time you have to pursue them, the online world offers a whole host of opportunities to contribute to our bank accounts, simply browsing the internet and finding out what’s available is a great way to start!
